CHOOSING THE RIGHT LANDSCAPE CONTRACTORSome questions you may be asking yourself are: How much experience do they really have? Are they licensed? What is their reputation? Is this the best price? What if I don’t have a landscape design yet? Do I need an architect? What if I don’t know what I want? What if they don’t understand what I want? What if my job is too small? What if my job is too big?
Where do I start?
Choosing a landscape contractor is a big decision for any homeowner. Many consumers have lost trust in the construction industry as a whole. It is an unfortunate reality that many unlicensed “landscape contractors” continue to mislead and take advantage of unknowing customers. Choosing the wrong landscape company can leave you with a mess and an empty pocket book.
As fellow consumers, we understand.
Here’s are some of the important things to consider when interviewing a landscaper:
Licensed or not?You always want to deal with a licensed contractor. The Arizona Registrar of Contractors’ mission is to promote quality construction by Arizona contractors though a licensing and regulatory system designed to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Be mindful of those seeking to thwart state statues, agency rules and building standards that govern the landscape construction industry.
What is their reputation?A person’s reputation is everything. A landscaper’s reputation is EVERYTHING. Without it, the best companies would not be thriving in a time where others are shutting their doors.
There are many ways to investigate a company’s reputation. Search the internet. Ask the company for references. Inquire with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.
Many times, as consumers, we can receive a great referral to a company that has already proven their reputation with a family member, friend, or neighbor.
